I am voting to re-elect Vienna Mayor Randy Rapp, and this is why: Before running for office, I was like many citizens — I liked my city and had a positive perception of how it was doing. I wanted to get involved. Would my opinion change once I was on the “inside?”

Here is what I found. Vienna has employees who are great at their jobs. Many of them have long tenures and know how to work well together. There are accountability measures in place, plus a workplace culture that strives to be excellent. I found people that I could depend on, learn from, and with whom I could accomplish big things. And so it was with Mayor Rapp.

I am strong-minded and full of big ideas, so I appreciated that he didn’t shut down my ambition but also kept me in check with discernment that came from years of getting things done in the public sector. I’m sure I made his head spin at times! We respectfully shared our opinions and listened. We both pushed back at the other but through it all, I saw that he genuinely wanted to do what was best for Vienna.

Now in present tense, not only does he want the best, but he also delivers it. He has effectively served and led this city for 12 years. There are important projects on the horizon and there are daily things that matter to each of us that he will continue to resolve and improve. He has the experience and depth of knowledge to navigate the complexities of municipal government. Mayor Rapp also has a humble, servant heart that puts others ahead of himself.

Four years later, I still like my city and I am still confident in the stability and further strengthening of our community. My personal experience working with Mayor Rapp has been a blessing. We are in good hands. Any change to leadership would NOT be a change for the better. Keep the good going! Join me in voting for a proven and trustworthy mayor! Randy Rapp!
