Michael Edward Phillips

Michael Edward Phillips, 64, of Washington, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4, 2024, at Eagle Pointe Healthcare Center, in Parkersburg, W.Va., after an extended battle with lung cancer. He was born on Oct. 27, 1959, in Myrtle Beach, S.C., a son of the late Samuel Edward and Beryl Ileene Phillips of Washington.

He is survived by his son Marc (Stephanie) Phillips, grandson Samuel Phillips, and granddaughter Alina Phillips of Morgantown, W.Va. He is also survived by his niece Jennifer Rich and nephew Jason Camaioni, both of North Carolina. His faithful dog Bella, who was a constant companion until recently now resides with Marc and family in Morgantown.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his infant sister Shirley Phillips, and sister Diane Wilson.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Lubeck Church of Christ. Michael was by his own account a “homebody.” He was a voracious reader, which is a trait he passed to his son and grandchildren and always had a book he was working on. He also enjoyed spending time with his family watching movies (especially Westerns) or WVU sports of which he was an avid fan.

Michael will be missed by many and his family would like to thank those who assisted with his care in his final years, especially the Housecalls Hospice Team for all of their care throughout his illness.

Per Michaelás request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Hospice Promise Foundation, 901 Hugh Wallis Rd S., Lafayette, LA 70508. (337) 233-1307 (Phone) https://lhcgroup.com/
