Icy L. Elder

Icy L. Elder, age 100, of Caldwell, Ohio, formerly of Williamstown, West Virginia, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, at Altercare Summit Acres.

She was born March 1, 1924, in Smithville, West Virginia, daughter of the late Amos Walter and Haddie Louella Emery Elder. Icy retired as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell in Marietta and she loved to travel and read. She enjoyed watching the FOX News channel and was aware of current events and was an avid supporter of Donald Trump. She was a woman of faith who was devoted to her family. She prayed for every family member each day.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four sisters, Myrtle Hale, Oma Remmele, Freda Colosi, and Hazel Taylor; and four brothers, Forest, Tracy, Walter, and Clacy Elder.

Surviving are her special niece and caregiver, Doris McKee of Caldwell; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 1 p.m. with Dr. Joseph Landry, II, officiating. Burial will follow at Barlow Cemetery.
