James (Jim) Ray Allen

James (Jim) Ray Allen, 81, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away Sept. 22, 2024, peacefully at home with his family at his side.

He was born June 3, 1943, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Orris and Mary Belle Allen.

Jim retired from the Ames Shovel plant. He loved camping with his children and grandchildren in Elkins, WV. He was an avid fisherman, he and his oldest son Jim Allen made regular trips to trout fish his favorite spots on Gandy Creek, and the West Forks of the Greenbrier and Little River in Elkins.

He is survived by three sons, Jim Allen (Pamela Webb), Kevin Allen, and Timothy Allen as well as two daughters, Millie Modesitt (Jeffrey Devol) and Angela Hoffman (Christopher Hoffman.)

He is survived by eight grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Brittany, Hannah, Hallie, Jillian, Carson, Bella; several great grandchildren and two brothers, Gary Allen (Diane), Joseph Allen (Pam), and one sister, Becky Allen Henke (Ralph).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Allen; three sisters, Patricia Schultz, Garnet (Bonnie) Jewel, Cindy Allen; his son, Mike, granddaughter, Ashley and grandson, Carter.

The family honors Jim’s request of no services. The family will hold a private memorial service to honor Jim’s life at a later date.
