Wood County Public Library to host local poets in honor of National Poetry Month

PARKERSBURG — In honor of National Poetry Month, the Emerson Avenue Library will host local poets Wilma Acree, David B. Prather, and Sherrell Wigal for reading and writing workshops on April 12.
Each of these poets has a unique voice and will share some of their poems at the free event, which will consist of an opening reading by the poets followed by three workshop opportunities. Attendees can enjoy any part of the event. Readings begin at noon, and workshops begin at 1 p.m.
National Poetry Month celebrates the unique contributions and creative voices of poets in society. The celebration on April 12 will run from noon to 3 p.m.
Acree, Prather, and Wigal will have their publications available at the event for anyone interested in further exploring Appalachian/West Virginia voices. Workshop themes will be Hands, Birds, and Colors.
