Pedestrian killed in accident Saturday identified
PARKERSBURG – Parkersburg Police have identified a man who died Saturday after being struck by a car while attempting to cross Murdoch Avenue.
Robert Matthew Sams, 58, of Parkersburg, was pronounced dead at the scene, Police Chief Matthew Board said.
The incident happened around 7:02 p.m. Saturday just south of the intersection at West Virginia Avenue. The name of the driver of the 2010 BMW X5 has not been released, as the case remains under investigation, Board said.
A fatal single-vehicle accident from earlier in the day is also still under investigation, Board said.
Wilson Noel, 20, of Parkersburg, was pronounced dead at the scene after his 2000 Buick LeSabre left the road in the 2400 block of Gihon Road, struck a utility pole and overturned.
