PARKERSBURG — An artificial ice-skating rink has been installed in the City Park Pavilion.

Parkersburg Mayor Tom Joyce said the Wood County Recreation Commission will operate the rink, which will be open for designated hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The opening date has not been announced, as the city is still installing signs and getting everything in place.

“It’s something that’s new and unique to the City of Parkersburg and Wood County,” Joyce said.

The purchase and installation of the synthetic rink cost approximately $54,000, Joyce said, $40,000 of which was contributed by the philanthropic Ross Foundation.
