ATHENS, Ohio — Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Zackary C. Tackett has been selected as the 2024 Trooper of the Year at the Athens Post.

Fellow officers stationed at the Athens Post chose Tackett based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public, according to a press release announcing the award.

Tackett is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Award to be announced at a later date.

Tackett joined the OSHP in 2016, and served at the Lebanon Post prior to his current assignment at the Athens Post. Tackett is originally from Gallipolis, Ohio, and is a graduate of Gallia Academy High School. Other awards he has received in the past include: Traffic Safety Award, 2023, 2022; Post Trooper of the Year, 2022; and Criminal Patrol Award, 2018.
