PARKERSBURG — A young photographer from Ohio is having his first full photography exhibit at WesBanco this month.

Even though Noah Strickler has been taking photos of wildlife, landscapes, cars and planes since he was 7, this is his first official exhibit. Strickler has not had any formal photography training, but is being mentored by local nature photographer Danny Carpenter.

He entered some photo competitions at county fairs and the local library and won a few first- and second-place awards in these competitions and a Best of Show at the library.

Strickler is a sophomore at Indian Valley High School in Gnadenhutten, Ohio. He earned his Eagle Scout rank at the age of 14. From his mother, Amy, he developed a love of photography, and they enjoy spending time together photographing a variety of subjects – but wildlife is by far his favorite. One subject he and his mother thoroughly enjoyed photographing was a nest of eagles, but sadly their nest was destroyed by a storm.

His love for the outdoors includes hunting, fishing and kayaking with his father, Tom. Strickler has a variety of interests and is rebuilding a 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee.

“I have been playing the piano since first grade and enjoy playing at our church, Deersville Faith & Fellowship, and I play at the Deersville General Store,” he said.

This summer, Strickler and other members from Troop 429 went to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. They spent 12 days camping in the wilderness and hiked a total of 158 miles.

“No one knows what the future holds, but with the help of the good Lord, I look forward to many more adventures,” Strickler said.

His Facebook page is Adventures through the lens.

The Noah Strickler photography exhibit may be viewed at WesBanco Bank in downtown Parkersburg Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
