"The government" you're referring to is a president who favors the rich and discounts the poor. A better person as president would do a better job for Medicaid.

Thats, you don't want the government running health care. About 65% of health care costs are because of government mandates. Take a look at the mess the Medicare health plan has. Take a look at the problems with Medicade. Right now the government want to lower health care payments to hospitals and Drs. Medicare patients will be having a hard time finding a Dr, just like the Medicade patients have.

myth, I hear "single payer" a lot. Would I be interpreting this correctly as the government allowing insurers to compete based on a set of criteria to be established. Then the citizen pays (in some form or fashion) the government for health care?

i just dont understand why we cant have a single payer system. Get rid of the Insurance companies or if we must have them at least have a good health refund each year for keeping yourself healthy. It might just work it would give incentive for people to get healthy and eat healthy too.

daughter, did you realize that Marietta hospital will write off your entire bill if you don't have insurance and not poor enought to qualify for Medicade? It is based on the family income. This is a Federal law for not for profit hospitals.

I have insurance. However, the cost of insurance, the limits on what they pay, the restrictions on where I can go and who I can see, the totally confusing and redundant billing methods used, and the hyper aggressive actions by hospitals and providers still cost a lot of money.

Attacking these problems will lower medical costs for all and improve our medical delivery systems. We have the best medical care in the world - IF - you are wealthy and can afford the best plans.

not a very fair pole...most who can not afford insurance..can not afford a computer...and often are not the personality type to be reading a paper....then there are those of us who work our tails off and seem to stay stuck in the middle...smart enough to maneuver and exist...help yourself and you are penalized...you must be dirt poor to get help...or make enough to be in the high income bracket...we in this state seem to punish those who do try to help there self..
