There are many people I respect on here, so it seems very odd to me when they go so off base with critiques on their own writings.
"The fact that you persist in quibbling about terms like "nigh".."
Odd, you did not think it was quibbling when you have the desire to point out when you think you are misquoted. I think you are being a bit of a hypocrite here Fred.
@Tiredofit- Well, I don't think of him as a socialist. Left leaning...yeah but not a socialist.
And besides, it seems to give him purpose. Look at all he has written.
"Obama is just another pig that is running our farm into the ground." ~ James Kendall, October 13, 2013 ... I mention this in case you are suffering from short-term memory loss regarding your own choice of words!
Another FACT - Deficit-spending has been reduced by half since President Obama was inaugurated ... If you want to reduce the national debt, try eliminating some of the various unnecessary subsidies, perks, and tax breaks enjoyed by big energy, big pharma, big insurance, big agri-business, and don't forget the billions shoveled into the coffers of war-profiteering companies that profit from the "wars of choice" so beloved of alpha-male warmongers who are mostly Republicans ... But don't let the facts get in the way of your "pity party"! Continue whining. It only proves my point!
Your silly attempt to "turn" the "Animal Farm" metaphor against Obama doesn't work ... Once again, the President has not acted like Orwell's "pigs" in attempting to undermine the law ... The ACA was passed by both houses of Congress and declared to be "constitutional" by the SCOTUS. Despite that, fanatics like Ted Cruz still claim that it isn't. In that sense, they are the ones acting like Orwell's porkers! ... You really DO miss "Lily" don't you? Me too!
system ... Note also that the problem with the website has been created by a Canadian IT firm that was originally hired by the Bush administration ... Add to that the fact that fanatic legislators in 26 states have stubbornly blocked implementation of the expanded Medicaid provision that would give tens-of-thousands of uninsured persons access to healthcare coverage ... Add to that the FACT that a multi-million-dollar campaign is being waged to dispense false information about the ACA ... Add to that the FACT that the folks who shut down the government and cost the U.S. economy $24 billion are NOT the folks to trust when it comes to reducing the national debt ... If you are so adamantly opposed to the ACA, give us the Republican alternative plan. You can't because it does not exist!
@Kendall - For a change, I think that "Tired" is pretty nigh correct ... The fact that you persist in quibbling about terms like "nigh" or "infallible" only gives more credence to my analysis of your criticisms ... The very FACT that the President was re-elected by a sizable margin suggests that public opposition to what you call "Obamacare" is overblown. The fanatical right's crusade to repeal the ACA was, after all, the leading issue in the 2012 campaign ... All the quibbling about the glitches in the ACA website suggests that many on the right who are not among the 30 million Americans denied access to affordable health-care insurance are unfamiliar with the FACT that all such internet traffic is plagued by similar glitches ... The same arguments were used to oppose Social Security, Medicare, the 1964 Civil Rights Act and most government programs that help those who have been dumped on for years by the so-called "free enterprise" sy
Kendall, I think you give the sneering socialist too much thought and too much of your time,
Fred, you wrote two letters in a month and offer no facts whatsoever. I am sorry that you cannot accept that reality.
If you want to have a nigh fanatical dislike for the Right...ok, whatever floats your boat. But if you are wrong, expect to be called out on it. If you cannot defend your position, perhaps you need to sit back and rethink your world a little.
And also, please try to refrain from such obvious ad hominems as you have the past week.
2. You state, "Kendall's silly complaint about my use of George Orwell's "Animal Farm" suggests he believes Orwell's works somehow "belong" only to far right tea party extremists."
Where did I ever say or imply that? I took your use of Animal Farm and simply applied it to the President. Never did I say or implied that no one else could. Though by your actions it would seem you don't want anyone else to use it.
"When confronted with facts.."
What facts? 1. You state, "If (as the ideologues claim) "a majority of Americans hate Obamacare," why isn't Mitt Romney president?"
But you have offered no facts to support this position. Show me a poll that puts Obamacare up at the top of why people didn't vote for Romney. I couldn't find one and I doubt you ever looked.
"so why waste your time (and mine) with silly quibbling and semantic games?"
Because when you are wrong...you are wrong Fred. It's only a "game" when you feel slighted.
You still offer NOTHING that should change my perspective on the President in this case or that the last election was a confirmation of America's approval of Obamacare.
"but YOU chose to twist my comments to call the President a "pig" in the personal sense"
And you would be incorrect in that.
"If you have read Orwell's "Animal Farm", you would know that the "pigs" in that story are the ones who take existing rules ("all animals are created equal") and twist them to give themselves an advantage over the other animals."
Sounds like Obama to me. Though as I said over at the Marietta Times...it sounds like all of them. Please try to pay attention Fred.
"(he IS the President, Kendall, so you might as well accept the fact)"
Fred, I have this odd feeling you think I am someone else. I have never denied he is President. And if in fact you have read anything of mine as you claim, you will see that I have defended the man before.
"Again, I did not claim that the President (he IS the President, Kendall, so you might as well accept the fact) is "infallible". You said that I did & therefore misrepresented my words.."
You continue to misquote me. Let me educate you..what I said was, "Since when did a person winning a presidential election translate to being nigh infallible?"
Notice the "nigh". Again..do you know what that means?
LOL . . . ? . . . "When confronted with facts" . . . ? . . . LOL
YOU have a propensity for name-calling & insults.
YOU have a dependency for name-calling & insults.
... FYI - Yes I think before I write. Do you? IThink certainly doesn't! When confronted with facts, both of you have a tendency to whine and call names. Your earlier remarks here provide further evidence that you regard the issues-of-the-day (the ones that affect the lives of real people) merely as fodder for your silly frat-boy semantic games ... Grow up!
and that moron from "Freedom Works" (who called for the President to "come out with his hands up") trotted out the most vile slanders and had the gall to claim that they were "supporting' W.W.II vets in the process. They weren't! The "shutdown" of the Washington monuments (and even more important government functions) was caused by the wing-nuts' insistence upon adding poison pills to routine legislation! It is this "blame game" that I was referring to when I used the word "toxic" in my letter ... Yes, Kendall, you have quite bit to offer in the positive sense (i.e. your stout past defense of the rights of minorities) so why waste your time (and mine) with silly quibbling and semantic games? ... Since you chose to use my name, I have merely returned the favor. Next time, use more judgment, and stick to the facts ... Also, you might want to re-read Orwell!
