Make my day! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Member CommentsTiredofitGoing on a three day hiatus so I will look for a detailed response soon as if. Posted 48 days ago. TiredofitHarry I have asked before what republican positions you support and you have yet to answer Posted 48 days ago. harryanderson“Give govt more power if you want.” By limiting my use of fossil fuels, I’m not giving power to government. Quite the reverse. I’m denying government an excuse to exercise power over me. When we act responsibly, governments don’t have to force us to be responsible. Look at it this way. We don’t want anybody to have power over us. So we can be wary of government because government has power. But government isn’t the only source of power. Fossil fuel companies also have power, and they’d like to increase their profits and their power by selling us more of their product. In the past, they’ve been highly successful at exercising power over our energy and transportation choices. As a freedom-loving Republican, I intend to limit the power they have over me. So we might turn your statement around and say, give fossil fuel companies more power if you want. Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to clear this up. Posted 48 days ago. burningdownthehouseWhy is it when you call one of the climate deniers to task, they always suddenly have somewhere else to be? all these platitudes from them are why America is turning to the green side. Posted 48 days ago. TiredofitBelieve what you will. I cannot place doubt in the mind of any so indoctrinated regardless of the facts. Give govt more power if you want. This horse is a dead as they come. Have a lovely weekend. Posted 48 days ago. harryanderson"Hide the decline, I ask again, why would someone feel compelled to hide a decline????" For your convenience, I’ll repost part of Mr. Jones explanation: “The phrase 'hide the decline' was shorthand for providing a composite representation of long-term temperature changes made up of recent instrumental data and earlier tree-ring based evidence, where it was absolutely necessary to remove the incorrect impression given by the tree rings that temperatures between about 1960 and 1999 (when the email was written) were not rising…” Posted 48 days ago. harryanderson"They cannot deal with the facts that ,right now, the earth is cooling." Your statement isn't factual. I can most certainly deal with the earth cooling. I wish it would cool a little. But "the earth," as I said before, isn't cooling. Heat is energy, and energy can neither be created nor destroyed. The heat that isn't escaping the earth because of greenhouse gases is still here. And, as I pointed out before, extra heat in the oceans has serious consequences. Can you deal with a warming earth? Posted 48 days ago. harryanderson"What is the proposed solution to this problem you say exists?" I already told you. Use less fossil fuel. Posted 48 days ago. burningdownthehouseYour our question has already been answered tiredofit. It was literally just a few pages ago. That's is very clever trying to use circular questioning to distort this issue. Would that position be called the "pivot man"? Posted 48 days ago. TiredofitHide the decline, I ask again, why would someone feel compelled to hide a decline???? Posted 48 days ago. IthinkGlobal warming is a cult religion. It makes little people feel big. The arrogance is astounding when insignificant humans think they can deal with global warming. They cannot deal with the facts that ,right now, the earth is cooling. It has warmed and cooled since the beginning of time. Posted 48 days ago. RANDOM21How easy it is for some to put everything in a nutshell, especially if it's their own own shell left over from their hatching. While the left believes there is no problem that can't be solved by throwing more and more money at it regardless of the outcome. It's not helping, spend more money. It's getting worse, spend more money. The debt isn't big enough, buy more shovels and dig a deeper hole. Problem with climate, make energy so expensive that people can not use it to keep warm in winter or cool in summer. Hire more government workers to hand out fans in summer, blankets in winter. Use government subsidies (tax dollars) and sign up more citizens for energy payments instead of trying to bring the cost of energy down were the citizens can afford it. The government isn't the solution, it's the problem. Posted 48 days ago. TiredofitMyth how nice of you to put it in a nutshell for us all. Your analysis of my thinking, while completely incorrect, does show the arrogant nature of yours. Posted 48 days ago. TiredofitWhat is the proposed solution to this problem you say exists? You have theory and conjecture but not facts. Posted 48 days ago. harryanderson"Righties dont want to in anyway agree with anything that they feel is a liberal cause." I consider it a conservative cause because, as tiredofit has pointed out, climate change can threaten our freedom. Dealing with it requires behavioral change. But deal with it we must. So we must ask ourselves whether we would rather change voluntarily, like free people, or whether we would rather be forced, like subjects. Denial and delay increases the risk of disorderly change, and would-be dictators thrive on disorder. For example, Hitler and Mussolini capitalized on postwar European chaos. We can deal with it by using fewer fossil fuels. I walk and bike more and use public transportation. And I’m not alone; I’m finding others who are doing likewise, and they’re not wild-eyed hippies; they’re average people like me. So let’s not give those totalitarians chaos to take advantage of. Let’s think and act soberly and responsibly. It’s the conservative way. Posted 48 days ago. mythravereHere's the problem in a nutshell. Righties dont want to in anyway agree with anything that they feel is a liberal cause. That right there is the driving force in all decisions they make politically. Facts couldn't be farther from being a concern. Posted 48 days ago. moderationHarry, please don't try to confuse me with facts,....my mind is made up. Posted 48 days ago. harryandersonWhat does submitting to government have to do with the posts I have made today? Posted 49 days ago. TiredofitOk Harry, you are a true believer I get it. The facts of the last ten years are an anomaly, ignore your lying eyes, submit to govt now. Posted 49 days ago. Post a Comment |
