Okay, gun fetish folks, tell those 20 dead elementary school children at Sandy Hook School in Newtown, CT. why you think everyone should be packing firearms!

Yeah, IThink, Stickhauler, Rockman1, Kunect, and all the NRA stooges out there, tell us why it's all the "fault" of President Obama and all the "nasty liberals" who want some civilized controls over the unlimited possession and use of firearms in this crazy country! Make my day! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Ok Harry, you are a true believer I get it. The facts of the last ten years are an anomaly, ignore your lying eyes, submit to govt now.

And rising ocean temperatures can have serious consequences. Here are three.

1. Thermal expansion and the melting of Arctic ice puts low-lying infrastructure at risk.

2. The destruction of coral reefs and fisheries..

3. Warmer water tends to release the huge amount of methane currently locked on the ocean floor. Methane is 24 times better at trapping heat than CO2.

So, you can see that it's not all about the temperature of the atmosphere. Even if it were, as I mentioned before, a short period cannot be considered conclusive. The data goes back 13 decades, but you're only considering one, and that one began with an anomaly.

“The lack of warming does not show a lack of warming?????”

Go back and read what I wrote again. You didn’t quote me accurately. I actually said, “The slowing rise in atmospheric temperatures doesn’t mean that the earth’s warming trend has stopped…”

The earth is composed of much more than just the atmosphere. In particular, I mentioned that the ocean is absorbing heat.

Anthropogenic CO2 keeps heat from radiating into space, and that extra heat must go somewhere.

and the fact that solar activity has dropped along with the temp doesn't give any of you a moment of pause?????? I give up.

The lack of warming does not show a lack of warming????? you people will buy anything I guess.

Reason number two: As has been pointed out many times here, anthropogenic CO2 isn’t the only factor involved, and some factors may have trended downward recently. For one, Pacific trade winds started becoming stronger around 2000, pushing warmed surface water down into the deep oceans, which have acted as a heat sink. This heat will eventually make itself manifest. Another factor, solar activity, has trended downward from 2000-2010.

Scientists will eventually explain the flattening rise in surface temperatures. Let’s not jump to hasty conclusions before all the facts are in.

The slowing rise in atmospheric temperatures doesn’t mean that the earth’s warming trend has stopped, for several reasons.

Reason number one: The laws of statistics. The surface temperature has remained flat since 1998. However, 1998 was an unusual year in that it came at the end of a sharp period of temperature rise, and was the warmest year of the century. Picking such an outlier as the beginning of a trend is a no-no in statistics. Another no-no: making conclusions on the basis of too-few data points. Ten to fifteen years isn’t enough data points. One should consider all the available data points (excluding extreme outliers). Atmospheric temperatures have trended upward since 1880. However, that time period includes other periods of slowing rise, most notable from 1940-1980. Nevertheless, the long-term trend is upward.

Al gore made lots of money from his little books and movies, nevermind they have been debunked. Then sells his network for a load of oil money. Hypocrisy the mantra of the hard left.

Posted 21 days ago.

Just google it, myth. The earth is cooling.

Most people would love to foget Al Gore. Look at Drudge today.

And I don't view this through a political bias. I am not invested in fossil fuels and don't work for a company that does. So what's my supposed agenada? Racism? Lol. Do tell me how much the temps have risen in the last 10 yrs

Tiredofit

how much warming has occurred in the last 10 years ?

WOW! If the planet is not warming then gee gosh I wonder why almost all the glaciers are melting away etc? They just don't start receding for nothing lol.

Sounds to me like your opinion on climate change is more influenced by political expediency than the facts surrounding the issue.

As an aside I have noticed that when dealing with politically polarized individuals from either camp if one takes a totally independent position on an issue the polarized folks exhibit a tendency of not being able to deal with the independent position. Its like the polarized individual is only able argue from the standpoint of an "us versus them" paradigm.

When I talk of climate change I am not taking a party line stance on the issue.

Now tell me why again you have to bring Al Gore into the argument so much?

I'll offer its because you cant see the issue independently of your political necessities.

Its a leftist cause therefor it must be quashed at all costs regardless of the facts!

AND NO the planet is NOT WARMING I have showed you data to show this.

Yeah MYTH get all indignant on me, you were the one that said " and to think I used to doubt global warming LOL" condescending?? YOU BETCHA

mythravere

Indoctrinated? Well apparently thats what you need to think of me as. It helps in lowering me down to a level where you feel you are above me in some way.

If you think about what I said it makes sense. If the planet warms and nothing comes from it so what right? But that warming causes changes in the climate of the various regions on this planet.

The planet is warming we all know this. In the long run it doesn't even matter whats causing it to happen. What matters is are we prepared to deal with the consequences?

We never will be if politics are allowed to dictate this issue. Sadly people like you just cant do that. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Tiredofit

So Global warming is NOT about warming per say, LOL good lord you are indoctrinated.

mythravere

Warming isn't the issue per se. Its what that warming is doing to the weather patterns that is the problem. If seasonal precipitation and temperatures goes too far out of the norm then crop yields may be affected up to the point where the region may become unsuitable for growing a particular crop. The medieval warm period showed positive side effects of a warming pattern. It became possible to grow grapes for wine in England.

But I am sure some areas had crop failures as a result of the medieval warm period.

This new period of climatic shift will cause problems. But dealing with it is a matter of being smart.

Warming periods are benificial to mankind, longer growing seasons, less heating required, (less carbon if that makes you feel better) Historicly the world has suffered in cold cycles and boomed during warmer ones.

Annnnd I might add that if control is what they are after then keeping the people's heads up their rears and focused on "other" issues would be logical play in the grand scheme of control.

Divide and conquer!

What a better way to do that than keeping people hyperpolarized?

If we are fighting each other we won't go after them will we?

So keep on keepin on. Its what "they" want!

Posted 23 days ago.

mythravere

Why control us when they could just kill us by setting loose a virus leading to a worldwide epidemic?

Your position on control just doesn't jive with logic.
