Make my day! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Member CommentsharryandersonHere’s another policy I support—personal responsibility. That’s why I’m using fewer fossil fuels. As I said before, it’s the responsible thing to do. As always, tiredofit, I thank you for the many invitations you give me to state my positions. Posted 23 days ago. harryandersonHere's a policy I support--one should live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Posted 23 days ago. harryanderson"natural climate cycles have already turned from warming to cooling, global temperatures have already been declining for more than 10 years." I’ve already dealt with this, Ithink. Please note the word “natural” in the quote you mentioned, which comes from an op-ed, not a scientific source. Beside the author’s picture, he writes, “I cover public policy, particularly economics.” Here’s what I wrote earlier: “As has been pointed out many times here, anthropogenic CO2 isn’t the only factor involved, and some factors may have trended downward recently. For one, Pacific trade winds started becoming stronger around 2000, pushing warmed surface water down into the deep oceans, which have acted as a heat sink. This heat will eventually make itself manifest. Another factor, solar activity, has trended downward from 2000-2010.” The issue isn’t “natural climate cycles.” The issue is unnatural, or anthropogenic, climate change. Posted 23 days ago. TiredofitHarry I have asked before what republican positions you support and you have yet to answer Posted 23 days ago. harryanderson“Give govt more power if you want.” By limiting my use of fossil fuels, I’m not giving power to government. Quite the reverse. I’m denying government an excuse to exercise power over me. When we act responsibly, governments don’t have to force us to be responsible. Look at it this way. We don’t want anybody to have power over us. So we can be wary of government because government has power. But government isn’t the only source of power. Fossil fuel companies also have power, and they’d like to increase their profits and their power by selling us more of their product. In the past, they’ve been highly successful at exercising power over our energy and transportation choices. As a freedom-loving Republican, I intend to limit the power they have over me. So we might turn your statement around and say, give fossil fuel companies more power if you want. Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to clear this up. Posted 23 days ago. burningdownthehouseWhy is it when you call one of the climate deniers to task, they always suddenly have somewhere else to be? all these platitudes from them are why America is turning to the green side. This horse is a dead as they come. Have a lovely weekend. Posted 23 days ago. harryanderson"Hide the decline, I ask again, why would someone feel compelled to hide a decline????" For your convenience, I’ll repost part of Mr. Jones explanation: “The phrase 'hide the decline' was shorthand for providing a composite representation of long-term temperature changes made up of recent instrumental data and earlier tree-ring based evidence, where it was absolutely necessary to remove the incorrect impression given by the tree rings that temperatures between about 1960 and 1999 (when the email was written) were not rising…” Posted 23 days ago. harryanderson"They cannot deal with the facts that ,right now, the earth is cooling." Your statement isn't factual. I can most certainly deal with the earth cooling. I wish it would cool a little. But "the earth," as I said before, isn't cooling. Heat is energy, and energy can neither be created nor destroyed. The heat that isn't escaping the earth because of greenhouse gases is still here. And, as I pointed out before, extra heat in the oceans has serious consequences. Can you deal with a warming earth? Posted 23 days ago. harryanderson"What is the proposed solution to this problem you say exists?" I already told you. Use less fossil fuel. Posted 23 days ago. burningdownthehouseYour our question has already been answered tiredofit. It was literally just a few pages ago.
