MARIETTA-Marietta High will be seeking a regular-season sweep when it hosts Warren in a Senior Night non-conference girls' basketball game at Sutton Gym at 7:30 p.m. today.
The Amy Colgrove-coached Warriors, of course, will be looking to even the count.
When the two big-school, Washington County rivals first met on the hardwood on Dec. 4, 2013, at Vincent, the Mark Hannuksela-led Tigers claimed a 55-45 decision.
MHS owns a 14-5 overall record and is 8-4 in the East Central Ohio League.
Warren is 8-9 and 5-2 in the Southeastern Ohio Athletic League.
Marietta is coming off a bounce-back win, a 47-42 triumph over visiting, ECOL-leading Zanesville Saturday. Last Wednesday (Jan. 29), the host Tigers squandered a 19-point halftime deficit to River View and lost 47-44 in double overtime.
The Warriors are hoping to get back on track after falling 51-45 to undefeated Athens (20-0) Saturday and 73-45 to SEOAL-leading Jackson last Friday night.
The royal blue and white cagers have suffered five consecutive setbacks.
In the December meeting between MHS and Warren, Lauren Martin paced the orange and black offense with a game-high 16 points. Starr Johnson was instant offense off the pine with 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while Alle Moore chipped in with 10 markers.
Warren, meanwhile, probably thought there was a lid on the basket as it shot 31 percent (16-51) from the field. Victoria Buzzard (16 ppg average) and Sarah Proctor each had 10 points to lead the Lady Warriors.
