What will the new year bring? When the year comes to an end it has a feeling of closure, like a period at the end of a year long paragraph. Now we all can anticipate the upcoming new year. The possibilities that new days and months bring. The chance to change for the better.
In a way, it's like a do-over. We get a new spring, summer, fall and winter. A lot can happen in a year's time, as many know all too well. Most didn't see a lot of things coming last year, however that's the way life works, after all. Just as soon as you think you've got things figured out, God calls to let you know there has been a change of plans.
Looking forward to 2014. There will be stories to investigate and write about. Plans will change. That's OK. For the most part, change, if it's for the better, is OK with me. Change just for the sake of change frustrates me and I can react negatively when caught off guard and grumble and gripe like anyone else.
Change should challenge all of us to think about things, to react and come up with a better plan. It's a chance to learn something new. I have some ideas about what might happen next, but I won't be laying any bets. That being said, I'm looking forward to an exciting new year. I will be disappointed if 2014 turns out like anything I expect.
Change is an opportunity to solve a problem. To think creatively. To begin again.
