Opley Evelyn (Cunningham) Smith, 96, of St. Marys, W.Va., passed into God's mighty arms on Dec. 13, 2013, at the Heritage Assisted Living of St. Marys, W.Va.
Opley was born Dec. 2, 1917, in St. Marys, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Cora A. (Seevers) Cunningham.
She attended the former Wiley School on French Creek in Pleasants County. She went to work for various grocery stores in the area before starting to work at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, where she performed many jobs until retirement. Opley was Baptist by faith.
She is survived by her two sisters, Oella V. Elder of Cairo, W.Va., and Emza M. Lowther of St. Marys, W.Va.; along with several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dolph G. Smith; and two brothers, Clarence and Ralph Cunningham.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, W.Va., with the Rev. Tim Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Wince Chapel Cemetery, Pike, W.Va. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
