MARIETTA - The Washington County Career Center has named its December Students of the Month, Julie Chidester and Brandon Nash.
Chidester is a Fort Frye High School senior enrolled in the cosmetology program. She is the daughter of Adam West of Beverly.
At the Career Center, Chidester is a member of the SkillsUSA youth organization, Interact Club, and the National Technical Honor Society. She is president in her technical program.
Chidester has received awards for the All A's Principal List, All A's & B's Honor Roll, and Outstanding English Student. At Fort Frye High School, she was active in the Family Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) youth organization her freshman and sophomore years.
Chidester is employed at McDonald's in Beverly as a cashier. Upon graduation, she plans to enter directly into the workforce as a hairdresser after she passes the Ohio State Board Exam of Cosmetology at the end of this school year.
Nash is a Marietta High School senior enrolled in the Computer Graphics program. He is the son of Dr. John and Victoria Nash of Marietta.
At the Career Center, Nash is a member of the Business Professionals of America youth organization where he holds the office of Chapter Parliamentarian. Both years he's attended the Career Center, Nash was Interact Club president, is a member of Student Council, and is a Student Ambassador.
In his technical program, he is class president and was selected the BPA Region 5 president last school year.
Nash has received awards for All A's Principal List, All A's & B's Honor Roll, All B's Merit Roll, Outstanding Computer Graphics Student, Outstanding Contemporary Issues Student, and Perfect Attendance. Nash works for the Lafayette Hotel in the banquet staff. After graduation, he plans to further his education at both Washington State Community College and the Career Center's Adult Technical Training to obtain additional Information Technology certifications.
