Russell C. Stephens, 98, of Washington, died Nov. 5, 2013, at the Parkersburg Care and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 14, 1915 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Silas Clarence and Clara Satow Stephens.
He began working for Johns Manville in 1952 until his retirement on Jan.1, 1978. He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran serving as an MP. He enjoyed working on his farm, gardening, raising cattle and squirrel hunting.
He is survived by one daughter, Dawna (Donald) Grady of Parkersburg; three sons, R. Tom (Evelyn) Stephens of Washington, Daniel Stephens of Washington, Ronald (Joy) Stephens of Zanesville, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Dean Stephens of Washington, Darrell Stephens of Vienna, John Stephens of Akron, Edward Stephens of Washington, Carlton Stephens of Washington, and Rosalia Hanna of Washington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lila A. Hardman Stephens; three sisters, Jean Piersol, Christine Moellendick, Pauline Doer, and one brother, Harold Stephens.
Services will be Sunday 3 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Reverend Bob Lizer officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.Visitation will be Saturday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
