William Richard "Dick" Boso, 69, of Denham Springs, La., passed away at 2:59 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, in the Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La., with his loving wife by his side, following a courageous year-long journey with cancer and diabetes.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1943, in Parkersburg, a son of the late William Ralph "Red" Boso and Gertrude "Gertie" Virginia Boso.
On Dec. 18, 1965, he married the former Mary Diane Davis, and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage together.
He is also survived by two daughters, Desiree Ann Boso and husband Mark Heiden of Madrid, N.Y. and Danielle Marie Boso Doss and husband Brad Doss of Denham Springs, La.; two granddaughters, Marianna Elizabeth Jones and Arva Dane Doss, both of Denham Springs, La.; one brother, Ralph David "Dave" Boso and wife Linda Boso of Belpre, Ohio; one sister, V. Rosalie Boso Nachtrab and husband Merlin W. of Kissimmee, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets.
Dick was a retired corporate pilot with over 40 years of accident-free experience. He felt a great sense of joy and accomplishment each time he rated on a different aircraft, and he was proud to fly MedJet where he transported ill patients to better medical facilities.
He was a faithful member of the Live Oak United Methodist Church in Denham Springs. He enjoyed competitive muzzle loader rifle shooting, fishing, painting and building models. The grandson of a town barber, he collected straight razors from all over the world. Most importantly, with a great sense of humor and quick wit, he treasured the time spent with his family, especially telling exaggerated tales to his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle whose vibrant spirit will live on in his family.
The Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored and privileged to serve the family of Dick Boso.
