The City of Marietta is fortunate to have two highly qualified women running for office. The first is candidate for Council at Large, Kathy Downer. I have known Kathy for over 20 years. Kathy and her husband chose to move to Marietta. They opened a small business in the medical field. Kathy later went to Marietta Memorial Hospital to work as a nurse, all while raising four energetic children. Kathy understands the demands placed on all women. She is an honest, smart, caring, funny and positive individual.
A vote for Kathy Downer will put a much needed woman's voice on Marietta City Council.
Willa O'Neill is a candidate for Marietta city treasurer and also a person I've know for many years. After graduating from Ohio University, Willa was in the classroom as a middle and high school teacher. She later went to ODOT as a highway worker and worked her way up to State Quality coordinator, all while raising two daughters.
Willa is an intelligent, patient, forward thinking person. As a 30-year public servant, Willa understands that efficient and responsive government is important to our democracy. Willa has proven herself as a leader and problem solver during her career. A vote for Willa O'Neill is a vote for openness and honesty in the Marietta Treasurer's Office.
