At the Chamber of Commerce, we are always looking for ways to promote our members and support the local economy. In the summer of 2012, we took the national Shop Local Initiative (sometime referred to as a Cash MOB) and applied it to supporting our restaurant members through what became known as the MOV Chamber Lunch MOB. We worked with a member restaurant, selected a date, then encouraged everyone to stop by that day and have a great meal. What better way to support our restaurant members than by simply eating lunch?
We are excited to now launch the Cash MOB concept for our Chamber member retailers. Nationwide the Cash MOB concept was launched to breathe some life back into a business and remind the community of the value of its businesses to the local economy. And 3 Cash MOBs have been scheduled for November, just in time to start your holiday gift purchases.
How does a Cash MOB work?
This month each of our Cash MOBs is tied to a ribbon-cutting, welcoming a business as a new Chamber member. And we thought, since we will have Chamber members on hand to help celebrate this accomplishment, why not encourage everyone to stop by that specific day at that specific retailer and commit to spending at least $10 to support a Chamber member and local retailer?
Mark your calendars for the following dates and locations and plan to participate in one of our first Cash MOBs:
This is just the launch of our Cash MOB initiative. If you are a retailer that is interested in setting up a Cash MOB at your location, please contact the Chamber office as we are working on setting up a schedule for 2014.
