BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference has selected Fairmont State University to serve as the host for the inaugural men's and women's soccer championships on Nov. 7-9.
The top four teams in the regular season standings will advance to compete for the tournament championship.
"We are excited to bring our first Mountain East Conference soccer championship to Fairmont," said Commissioner Reid Amos. "Duvall-Rosier Field is an excellent venue for fans and media, and we believe our student-athletes will have an exceptional championship experience."
Duvall-Rosier Field, located at the top of the Fairmont State University campus, is a 5,000-seat stadium complete with FieldTurf, lights, a video board and a spacious press and VIP area.
"We are honored to serve as the host the first Mountain East Conference soccer championships on our campus," said FSU President Dr. Maria Rose. "With the the recent addition of women's soccer to the list of sports offering at FSU, we believe that hosting this championship will get our community even more excited about the future of soccer and the Mountain East Conference."
"Being selected as the host for the MEC soccer tournament is a privilege," said Tim McNeely, Fairmont State Director of Athletics. "We're looking forward to showcasing some of the best Division II soccer teams in the region and country right here on campus. The championship will also provide momentum for the start of our women's soccer program, and we hope to be a part of this competition very soon."
