PARKERSBURG - Parkersburg firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a Friday evening fire on Camden Avenue in south Parkersburg.
A fire was reported about 8 p.m. Friday at 1801 1/2 Camden Ave., just west of the intersection of Camden and Division Street.
Capt. Mark Kunselman with the Parkersburg Fire Department said the fire occurred in a mobile home at the rear of the property at 1801 Camden Ave. The occupant, whose name was unavailable Friday evening, was asleep in the residence when he was awoken by the sound of the smoke detector, fled the residence and called 911, Kunselman said.
Flames were showing in the living room area of the trailer when firefighters arrived at the scene, he said. They were able to bring hoses to bear through the front door and had the fire knocked down in about three minutes, Kunselman said.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage remained under investigation Friday night.
