BELPRE - The streak will be pushed to the test beginning with Wednesday's Ohio Division 3 sectional boys golf tournament at Jaycees Golf Course in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Belpre is seeking to extend a run which began in 2006, and that is to qualify either an individual or the entire team to the district level.
In order to keep its postseason alive, the Golden Eagles must finish first or second among the 12 schools competing at the sectional tournament. The top two individuals who are not members of a qualifying school also advance.
Rounding out the field are Crooksville, Beaver Eastern, Reedsville Eastern, Huntington, Miller, Nelsonville-York, Paint Valley, South Gallia, Southern, Trimble and Waterford.
Last week in a tri-meet on their home course at Oxbow Golf and Country Club, Belpre clinched its third consecutive Tri-Valley Conference championship with a 15-1 record.
"I like our chances," Belpre coach Scott Miller said. "We try to look at the season as a preparation for the tournament. Our team has played a lot of golf against a lot of the same people but it prepares us to play in tournaments.
"My guys will be playing in the No. 1 flight against players from Miller and Waterford, so they know who they have to beat."
The top individuals on this year's Belpre team have been Brennen Ferrell, Sam Petty, Hayden Plummer, Alex Perry and Hayden Lowe.
Teammates Jackie Cunningham and Alana Delancey also have contributed for the Golden Eagles, and their postseason began Monday in a girls sectional at Upper Landsdown Golf Course in Ashville, Ohio, where Cunningham qualified for the district tournament.
In addition to the 13 full teams in the girls field, there were 31 additional individuals competing representing another 18 schools.
