Stanley L. Hitt Jr. passed away on Sept. 9, 2013, at his home in Washington, W.Va.
He was born in Morgantown, W.Va., on Nov. 23, 1940, the son of the late Rachel Ann Jones Hitt and Stanley L. Hitt Sr.
Stan graduated for Morgantown High School and Morgantown Business School. He was employed by DuPont for 34 years and retired in February of 1999. He loved camping and fishing.
Stan is survived by his wife, Reba Packer Hitt, to whom he married on Oct. 5, 1963, at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Oakland, Md. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, Richard (Jan) Packer, Ronald (Kathy) Packer and Donald (Pat) Packer; sisters-in-law, Jean Wayman and Shirley Packer; and several close nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved pet, Clancy Jane.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Danny McVey officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be today from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
