Chris Lee Taylor, 44, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away Sept. 5, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, in Parkersburg.
He was born Oct. 3, 1968, in Barberton, Ohio, son the of late Clifford Lee and Patsy Arlene Walker Taylor.
Chris had served his country in the U.S. Navy, and was employed as Transportation Manager with Hi-Vac for 14 years. His passion was in helping children whether that was through coaching or with the Scouts. He had served as the Committee Chairman and a Den Leader for Cub Scout Pack 91 of Belpre. He was also Blennerhassett District Day Camp Coordinator for the Allohak Council.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Kathy L. Stanley Taylor; three very special children, whom he and Kathy were raising as their own, Skyla Bartlett and Alora and Gabriel Stull; granddaughter, Abigail Goforth; his stepdaughter, Stephanie (Bryan) Goforth of Snow Camp, N.C.; sister, Lavette (Mark) Kelly of Alexandria, Ohio; brothers, Calvin (Karen) Taylor of Dallas, Ga., and Van (Connie) Taylor of Parkersburg; and one niece and several nephews. He is also survived by his in-laws, whom he respected as his own parents, Carl and Eva Stanley.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Taylor.
A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Mullen Memorial Baptist Church, Belpre, Ohio, home of Cub Scout Pack 91, with Pastor Kent Lowther officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, Ohio.
