PARKERSBURG - Wood County commissioners announced a vacancy on the Wood County Recreation Commission and placed Randy Edge's name in nomination for the position.
Under the county commission's policies, the nominee can officially be appointed in two weeks if no other names are submitted.
County officials said board member Delmas Barker resigned, creating the vacancy.
Officials said Edge has been involved with youth sports for a number of years; he is the assistant principal at Williamstown High School.
Larry Allen, with the recreation commission, told county commissioners the programs are growing.
"We have approximately 2,615 registered players in Wood County Recreation Programs over the course of the past year. We also serve our community by running and maintaining the City Park mini-golf course from June 1-Sept. 21 every year, and maintaining the old Eagles field behind the DMV.
"We also have the Harvest Moon Festival coming up on Sept. 21-22," Allen said.
