Sara Lou Coors, 88, of Parkersburg, died peacefully the morning of July 31, 2013.
She was born Jan. 8, 1925 in Mineral Wells, W.Va., a daughter of the late Harry T. and Rae Archer Butcher.
She had been employed with Wood County Bank and previously with Mountain State Bank and Best Finance. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School Class of 1942 and attended the Shady Hill School in Mineral Wells, also known as the New Era One Room School House, currently located at the Mineral Wells Elementary School. She was a 60-year member of Stout Memorial United Methodist Church, the Upper Room Sunday School Class and Rebecca Circle. Through the church she gave 20 years of service to the Salvation Army with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed gardening, her cat "Dolly" and being with family.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda (Terry) Connolly of Vienna, Nancy Turner of Houston, Texas, and Joan (Joe) Whitlatch of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren, Shelley (Grant) Wharton, Rick (Beth) Connolly, Tim (Amy) Connolly, Patrick (Susie) Turner, Carrie (Greg) Weidenhammer, Jerri (Lief) Nixon, and Jeremy (Alissa) Whitlatch; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John T. Butcher, and one sister, Eleanor Ott.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Paul Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
