Jackie Wayne Montgomery, 78, of Parkersburg, passed July 21, 2013, at his residence, under the loving care of his family and Housecall Hospice.
"Jack" was born in Parkersburg, April 25, 1935, a son of the late Ernest Hilton and Blanche Mae Yoho Montgomery.
He had proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. "Jack" was a self-employed carpenter, building and remodeling homes in the area for many years. He was an excellent carpenter and avid golfer, and was a member of the South Hills Senior Golf League. He attended South Parkersburg Baptist Church and was a long time member of the Bethel Church, where he had served as treasurer and Sunday school superintendent.
Surviving "Jack" are his wife, Marjorie Ann Akers Montgomery; daughters, Carrie Rae Kerr of Parkersburg, and Molly M. Montgomery of Dublin, Ohio; son, Jeffrey W. Montgomery and Teresa of Elizabeth City, N.C.; grandchildren, Robby, Matthew and Devan; and sisters, Mary Lou Cox of Mineral Wells, Margaret J. Shaw, Barbara J. Parsons and Robert, all of Parkersburg, and Janet R. Hardman and James of Belpre.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Joe Bush officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by American Legion Post #15. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
The family wishes to thank Housecalls Hospice and caregivers, Kim Terrell and Diana Williams, for their special care they gave "Jack" and the family during his illness.
