Catherine Konokas, 86, of Belpre, died June 9, 2013, at the Willows in Parkersburg.
She was born in Dorothy, W.Va., on Feb. 1, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Theodore and Freida Giatanes Konokas. She was a member of the St. James Orthodox Christian Mission Church in Belpre. She had worked for the Summers Confectionary and Time Saver Market in the 1950s till the early '70s. She then worked for Nancaras from the mid '70s till the early '90s. She did yard work and cooking at the church as well as anything that needed to be done.
Survivors include her two sisters, Mary Mullins of Charleston, W.Va., and Sally (Jim) Dukas of Belpre; nieces, Nancy Bricker of Charleston, Kathy (Eric) Brant of Belpre, and Denise (Steve) Highland of Belpre; great-nieces and nephews, Jimmy Kohler, Sarah Highland, Christopher (Bethany) Kohler, Amy Highland, Jennifer Kohler, Jason Dunn, Jessica Dunn and David Mullins; and great-great-nephews, Jonathan Kohler and Hunter Mullins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Christine Konokas; niece, Vickie Dunn; and brother-in-law, Hubert (Moon) Mullins.
Services will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the St. James Orthodox Christian Mission Church in Belpre, with Father Mark Elliott officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans, W.Va. Friends may call at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
