Virginia L. Barrett, 87, a resident of Marietta Care & Rehab, and formerly of Parkersburg, passed away May 20, 2013, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born at Creston, W.Va., a daughter of the late William and Peggy Boice Dotson. Virginia served as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, during World War II. She retired as a case worker with the former W.Va. Department of Welfare, and was a graduate of Wirt County High School.
She is survived by two daughters, Boni McKimmie of Williamstown and Saundra (Michael) Clifford of Charleston; a brother, Bruce Malone of Parkersburg; and three grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Clifford of Charleston, and David McKimmie of Williamstown. She was preceded in death in 1946 by her husband, Robert L. Boyce; and by her long-time companion, Tom Compston.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Ave., Parkersburg. Concluding services and interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, South. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
