SISTERSVILLE - A coach with an anger disorder, an ex-jock, a cheerleader and a couple of love-struck nerds create comedy, musical parodies and a silly murder as the Wells Inn presents Mystery Theatre Unlimited's new musical-comedy, murder-mystery dinner theater production of "Dead of the Class," at 7 p.m. May 3.
Old rivalries and unrequited crushes lead to lethal intent and laughter as the class of 1988 prepares for its 25th reunion. Members of the committee fight among themselves over old rivalries, missed opportunities and failed romances.
Leading the committee is Coach Krunk played by Michael Moran. His old star quarterback, Tank Hughes, portrayed by Bert Furioli, has had a disappointing post-high school career, but he is determined to relive the glory days. His ex-girlfriend and former head cheerleader, Holly Hox played by Shannan Noe also is on the committee.
Other members of the planning committee are class valedictorian Marvin Gardens, portrayed by Ryan Sears, and the other nerd, Olive Boyle, played by Butch Maxwell.
The show features musical parodies of songs that were popular in the 1980s.
"Dead of the Class" is the company's 54th show and was written by cast members Sears, Furioli and Maxwell. The show is appropriate for all ages.
Mystery theater performances, which take place in a dining room with actors moving about and among the tables, include audience interaction and the opportunity to solve a murder mystery, along with a dinner. Audience members are encouraged to gather clues, talk to the characters and question the survivors after the murder has occurred.
Selected members of the audience will play small parts. Reservations must be made in advance by calling 304-652-1312. The Wells Inn is located at 316 Charles St. in Sistersville, W.Va. Overnight accommodations are available. For more information, go to www.MysteryTheatreUnlimited.com
