VIENNA -The Dave Couch Golf Tournament To Benefit ALS, set for Friday, May 24, at the Parkersburg County Club, already has filled its field.
This will mark the 13th year of the tournament, which honors the memory of local businessman and Wood County Commissioner Dave Couch, whose life was cut short by ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
Dave Cyrus, one of the tournament's organizers, said last year's event raised approximately $37,000 for ALS research, bringing the total amount raised since the tournament's inception to approximately $650,000.
The Couch Tournament is one of the most popular events in the Mid-Ohio Valley, due to the large number of Couch's friends who take the time to honor his memory.
One of the tournament's founders, Larry Martin, passed away last year, leaving it in need of a master of ceremonies, a role Martin, the long-time head of the Parkersburg County Club and the founder of the Top-Flite Junior Tour, filled for numerous tournaments, Frank Northup will fill that role for this year's event.
