State will miss Rockefeller

March 3, 2013
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

I'm very sad we will soon lose the long and faithful service of Sen. Rockefeller. What I learned throughout his service to West Virginia and liked most was that he showed up for work. He listens, he reads, he responds thoughtfully with meaningful words. He acts with discernment on serious issues. Best of all, he's way smarter than I am - a political necessity. Thank you, Gov./Sen. Rockefeller.

I am deeply uncertain that I can discern those qualities in numerous shoot-from-the-hip Congressional politicians. I'm very curious about the absolute silence on one important cost factor in the battle over sequestration: Will Congressional salaries and those of their staffs be sequestered?
