Clara White Balderson, 86, of Ripley, peacefully passed away Feb. 28, 2013, at Eldercare Health and Rehabilitation.
Clara was born Jan. 2, 1927, and was a foster daughter of the late Ralph and Vera Garloch of Vienna. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1946, and attended nurses training at Camden Clark Medical Center, Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Washington, D.C. Clara performed her duties as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Camden Clark Medical Center and Jackson General Hospital in Ripley. She also worked in nursing homes in Wood County and Jackson County. She attended the Summit Valley Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and her beautiful flower garden.
She is survived by four children, a son, Paul Balderson (Tina) of Sandyville; daughters, Rosalie Fridley (Jim) of Ripley, Sharon Abner of Ripley, and Mary Davis (Rick) of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Kayla Roberts (Kevin) of Walker and Michael Balderson of Lubeck; and two great-grandchildren, Conner Roberts and Colson Roberts of Walker. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dale Balderson in 1975, and second husband, Bob Rhodes; foster brother, James Williams; and son-in-law, Douglas Abner.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Burial will be in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
