ST. MARYS - Ritchie County flexed its muscle in the fourth quarter and pulled away from St. Marys for a 66-59 road win on Thursday.

The Rebels (11-5, 7-3 LKC North) outscored the Blue Devils 29-9 in the final eight minutes as Justin Sage scored all 11 of his points. Teammate D.J. Burgess finished with a game-high 21 points, while Andrew Davis tossed in 19 points.

St. Marys slipped to 15-3 and 8-3 in the LKC North despite a 17-point effort from Andrew Cosper and another 16 points from Jessy Moore.

Valley (Wetzel) 63

WEST UNION -T.J. Baldwin made the most of senior night after scoring 11 points off the bench during Doddridge County's 77-63 win against Valley (Wetzel) om Thursday.

Baldwin accounted for eight points as Doddridge (4-12) bolted out to a 20-13 lead after one quarter. The Bulldogs extended the cushion to 36-24 by intermission.

Four Doddridge players scored in double figures, including Ashton Hinzman with a team-high 18 points?

Valley slipped to 6-11 despite a game-high 20 points from Triston Kocher.

Braxton County 60,

Wirt County 54

ELIZABETH - Wirt County's Kalob Bell scored a co-game-high 19 points here Thursday night, but visiting Braxton County tallied 19 of the final 20 points in the contest as the Eagles rallied for a 60-54 triumph.

Derrick Barnette tied Bell for top scoring honors while Eagle teammates Trea Stout and Cody Hilton added 17 and 12 markers, respectively.

The Tigers, now 5-14 with a home game today versus Tyler Consolidated, also received 11 points from Mark Cunningham. Austin McVey chipped in eight points and eight assists in the setback.

Clay County 64,

Calhoun County 50

MT. ZION - Ryan Slider finished with 16 points, 11 boards, four assists and three steals, but host Calhoun County didn't have enough as Clay County left town with a 64-50 victory.

Michael Shamblin's 17 points led the 8-7 Panthers, who also got double figures in scoring from Jarrod Woodyard (13) and Chris Cole (11).

The Red Devils (2-16) also received 14 markers from Tyler Gerwig and 10 counters by Ricky Hall.

PHS receives forfeit win

CHARLESTON - After using an ineligible player in its game on Jan. 30 with Parkersburg, Riverside's win against the Big Reds was forfeited.

According to a story in the Charleston Gazette, Riverside's boys basketball team was without its coaching staff for Thursday's showdown against Woodrow Wilson. Second-year coach Dusty Herscher and his assistants were suspended indefinitely this week.

Riverside principal Valery Harper would not elaborate on the reason for the suspension of Herscher and his staff or the likelihood of how long the suspension would last.

Even though the reason for the suspensions had not been made public, Mountain State Athletic Conference commissioner Fred Aldridge confirmed Riverside forfeiting its win against PHS.

Girls

Parkersburg South 65,

Frontier 47

NEW MATAMORAS -Parkersburg South didn't have any trouble finding the range from beyond the 3-point arc and tossed in nine treys while winning at Frontier 65-47 on Thursday.

South's Keya Bartlett led the barrage with five 3-pointers as part of her game-high 26-point effort. Teammate Taryn McCutcheon accounted for three treys and added 20 points as the Patriots improved to 12-6.

A total of three Frontier players scored in double figures, including Kelsea Daugherty with a team-high 12 points.

Paden City 50, Cameron 42

PADEN CITY - With only one hour of practice under its belt since losing against Cameron a week ago, Paden City returned the favor Thursday and defeated the Dragons 50-42 on senior night.

Freshman Cydney Blatt led the Wildcats (9-11) with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Logan Cosper pitched in 11 points.

Cameron's Leah Stern scored a game-high 18 points, while teammate Neely Benline accounted for 14 points.

Ravenswood 41,

Wirt County 26

RAVENSWOOD -Ravenswood made quick work of Wirt County for seventh place in the Little Kanawha Conference placement game and defeated the Tigers 41-26 on Thursday night.

Ravenswood raced out to a 23-2 lead after one quarter.

Taylor Youell led the Red Devils with 14 points, while Hailey Miller added 12 points.

Miriam Smith finished with a team-high 10 points for Wirt County.

Tyler Consolidated 59,

Calhoun County 20

KIDWELL -Tyler Consolidated moved another step closer toward the .500 mark after defeating Calhoun County 59-20 for 11th place in a Little Kanawha Conference placement game.

The Silver Knights improved to 9-11 thanks to an 18-point effort from Sophie Kinnard. Teammate Torrye Cline also reached double figures with 14 points.

Calhoun County (3-16), which fell behind 30-11 by intermission, received 12 points from Kenzie Hicks.

Magnolia 71,

Beallsville 63

BEALLSVILLE, Ohio - Grace Berisford poured in a game-high 31 points and Mallory Chapman posted a double-double of 21 points and 12 boards to help visiting Magnolia earn a 71-63 OVAC consolation game victory here Thursday against Beallsville.

BHS (5-16) got 25 points from Katey Kinney, 21 by Madison Stephen and the other 17 from Mikaela Headley.

The Blue Eagles, now 10-8 with a Saturday afternoon game up next at Monroe Central, also received seven points from Audrey Gibb while Katie Blatt dished out 10 assists.
