No life-threatening injuries reported in Avery wreck

PARKERSBURG - An accident in Parkersburg around 11:20 a.m. resulted in a vehicle striking a utility pole Friday, police said.

Sgt. S.L. Bunner with the Parkersburg Police Department said the accident occurred at Fourth and Avery streets, resulting in one vehicle receiving "disabling" damage.

Lloyd S. Tennant, 49, Walker, W.Va., was traveling eastbound in a 1999 Dodge Intrepid on Fourth Street when he was unable to stop for a 2005 Toyota Camry attempting to cross through his lane of traffic, police said. Driver of the Camry, Virginia Gault of Belpre, was cited for failure to yield, police said.

Tennant's car was forced into a utility pole after attempting to avoid the collision with the 81-year-old Gault, Bunner said.

Minor damage resulted on the driver's side door of the Camry. Police said the Intrepid sustained damage to its front and passenger side.

No life-threatening injuries were reported and power was not interrupted by the accident, officials said.
