VINCENT - Fourteen years ago, Blane Maddox journeyed up the river from his hometown of Logan to become the varsity basketball coach of the Warren Warriors, a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League rival of the Chieftains.
But Wednesday evening, Maddox might as well have been wearing purple, because the Chiefs and their fans loved him almost as much as the Warriors.
Maddox received his 200th career coaching victory - all with the Warriors - when Warren defeated the visiting Chieftains 80-45 at Warren High School in Vincent Wednesday evening.

Warren's Dylan Leffingwell, right, puts up a shot against Logan defenders Gaven Jourdan, back, and Tristan Myers Wednesday. Warren won 80-45, giving coach Blane Maddox his 200th coaching victory.
And as the Warriors celebrated, fans wearing Chieftain purple came down to embrace the man that left their city and went on to build a basketball dynasty in Warrior country. Maddox is the first boys basketball coach to ever win 200 games at Warren High School, and just the second basketball coach, joining former girls coach Dennis Biddinger.
"You don't think about 200, or even 100," Maddox said. "What I'm proud of is doing it at one school. That's difficult to do today."
"He does everything for us," said Warren senior Dylan Leffingwell. "Coach is real passionate about the game. He's always on us to keep that passion, that fire for the game."
