Sandra Jane Owens, 71, of Belpre, Ohio, died at the James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio, on Dec. 31, 2012.
She was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., on Jan. 18, 1941, a daughter of the late Harry E. and Nellie Louise Casto Shaffer. She was a lifetime member of the Mullen Memorial Baptist Church, a 1958 graduate of Belpre High School and received her RN degree from WVUP. She was proud to be a RN for 40 years at the St. Joseph's Hospital in the Recovery Room. She had been a member of the Belpre Order of Eastern Star #541.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, James F. Owens; a daughter, Jimi (Richard) Sell of Belpre; a son, Clayton Owens of Belpre; two grandchildren, Rebecca Sell and Travis Owens, and a brother, Robert Shaffer of Angelfire, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be on Saturday 11 a.m. at the Mullen Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Kent Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church. Eastern Star Services will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Belpre Order of Eastern Stars officiating.
