Out of sight out of mind: isn't that the old saying? Unfortunately it seems that has been what has happened to many of our elderly: out of sight; out of mind. We get a caregiver, or many must go to nursing homes.
What then? Out of sight, so we put them out of our minds believing someone else has the responsibility of taking care of them. Not knowing or just putting it out of our minds how they feel. Helpless, sad, depressed or just down right lonely, waiting for that family member or friends to stop by or pick up the phone and call and check on them.
This new year please take time to visit a shut-in person or an elderly person. Sometimes soft words and a kind smile are the best medicine.
Please keep them in your sight and on your mind because they sure are thinking of you.
