In our grief and shock over the massacre in Newtown, please bear in mind the heroism and sacrifice of the teachers and other school staff members, as well as that of the first responders who surely prevented even more carnage.
In recent years, powerful voices in our nation have tried, with varying degrees of success, to convince us that public employees are to blame for our economic woes.
When it comes to the everyday health and well-being your precious family, who contributes more: the billionaire Captains of Industry (and the politicians they own) or public employees - teachers, police officers, and firefighters?
Please, when you can, thank a teacher. Thank a cop. Thank a firefighter. Thank an EMT. And always remember how much their selfless work means to our lives.
