Charlaine E. Gilpin

Charlaine Eloise Reynolds Gilpin, 89, of St. Marys, passed away at Marietta Memorial Hospital on Dec. 17, 2012.

Born in St. Marys, W.Va., on July 8, 1923, along with her twin, Millard Reynolds, she was the only daughter of Lynden Reynolds and Mildred Pritchard Reynolds.

With her brothers, she grew up in a loving home on the Reynolds farm in St. Marys. She graduated from St. Marys High School in 1941 and attended Potomac State College. She worked for the Pleasants County Schools as a teacher's aide/social worker and secretary. Charlaine was a member of the DAR for 45 years, and a lifelong member of St. Marys United Methodist Church. After retiring, she and Hobe enjoyed traveling and family.

Charlaine is survived by her four children, Patricia (Ronald Jeffrey), Kay Gilpin (Judy), Beverly (Michael Morris) and Rex Gilpin (Kathy); 10 grandchildren, Kelly Jeffrey, Angie Osburn, Craig Jeffrey, Darin Gilpin, Bryan Gilpin, Julie Stafford, Aaron Littman, Amber Molina, Ashlee Cooper and Lydia Neubauer; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Joseph Reynolds and wife Margaret; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Reynolds.

Charlaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Hobert Eugene Gilpin; his mother, Lena Gilpin; her parents; and brothers, Lynden Jr. and Millard Reynolds.

She will be missed by her friends at Emeritus and her family.

Friends may call at Ingram Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. or 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Marys United Methodist Church Chapel.
