No negativity during holidays

December 16, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

To all of the Grinches, and I think they know who they are. Instead of writing horror stories about abortions, they should, if they really care about unwanted, underfed, abused or otherwise maltreated children, go to the nearest "Toys for Tots" barrel and fill it up. Volunteer at one of the countless children's organizations. Send a check to Planned Parenthood to help prevent one of the pregnancies you talk about.

I am not taking a stand for pro-choice or pro-life. What I am saying is there are millions of children that need our help. So expend your energy on something positive. By the way, you might want to reread the letters from Kira Miskimmin and Jenny Raber in last Sunday's paper.

And about the recent election, stop whining and deal with it. There is exciting news for tea partiers and Republicans. When the rich are told to pay higher taxes, they will still be rich. Instead of writing negative letters, go stuff some $20 bills in some Salvation Army kettles. There are hundreds of ways you can volunteer and make the holidays a little brighter for some. Watch some version of "The Christmas Carol" or "It's a Wonderful Life" over and over again until you get the message.

And lastly, The News should hesitate to publish negative garbage for the duration of the holiday season.
