PARKERSBURG - A Parkersburg woman was arrested Monday for failing to immediately stop for police.

Stephanie Louise Sturgill, 1303 25th St., Parkersburg, was arrested by Parkersburg police and charged with first-offense driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, said Sgt. Greg Collins with the Parkersburg Police Department.

Police were called to the 3400 block of Murdoch Avenue about 1 p.m. Monday when a 2008 Toyota RAV 4 collided with another vehicle and allegedly fled the scene. About 15 minutes later, Parkersburg police observed the suspect's vehicle and attempted to stop it in the 1800 block of Camden Avenue. The driver allegedly failed to immediately stop with the lights and sirens activated on the police cruiser. Police were finally able to stop the vehicle in the 2200 block of Camden Avenue, Collins said.
