MARIETTA - A driver caused a stir in downtown Marietta Friday afternoon when his truck veered off the road and crashed into Settlers Bank, 115 Third St.
The vehicle, a black Ford F-150, was badly damaged but the driver was uninjured, said Patrolman Brandon Chapman of the Marietta Police Department.
The driver, Dean Mugrage, 48, of Marietta, was traveling north in the 100 block of Third Street with two dogs in the truck with him, he said.
"One jumped on his lap which caused him to veer off to his left," said Chapman.
The truck went through the grass that separates Settlers Bank from Third Street and then struck the bank. The truck knocked over a tree and scraped the building, said Chapman.
The driver said he had been traveling 15 to 20 miles per hour. A witness also testified that he "wasn't going very fast," said Chapman.
Mugrage was cited with failure to control and having expired plates.
