Bailey Stewart Dean, 72, passed away Dec. 2, 2012, peacefully in his sleep at home.
He was born July 30, 1940, in Braxton County, W.Va., a son of the late Martha Juanita Dean Griffith. He retired from Wood County Board of Education, where he worked as a teacher's aide. He also worked at Ideal Box Factory for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and member of Sunrise Baptist Church where he was baptized. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1118, and a member of the American Legion Post #15 and the Eagles Lodge Aerie #2307. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1958. He enjoyed bowling, socializing with friends, spending time at Parkersburg Farmers Market and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy of Parkersburg; one son, B. Stewart (Cindy) Dean of Walker, W.Va.; two daughters, Tammy (Robert) Goodwin of Parkersburg and Melissa (Ron) Watson of Parkersburg; four sisters, Alice Pritchard of Parkersburg, Bertha (Larry) Dillon, Texalena (William) Clegg and Clotile (Ronnie) Snider, all of Parkersburg; two brothers, Howard (Cathy) Todd and Thomas Griffith, both of Parkersburg; six grandchildren, Roger Goodwin, Robert Goodwin, Kayla (Monkey) Goodwin, Breanna Watson, Kylee Dean and Brandon (Bubby) Watson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Bailey and Martha Ann Rebholtz.
At his request there will be no visitation or service at this time.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the WEE Federal Credit Union, c/o Nancy Dean, for Bailey's grandchildren's education.
