CLASS AAA Playoff

Martinsburg 63,

George Washington 14

MARTINSBURG - Martinsburg quarterback Justin "Cookie" Clinton ran 217 yards and six touchdowns, and the Bulldogs trounced George Washington 63-14 to reach the Class AAA state championship game for the third straight seasons.

With a win next Saturday, the Bulldogs would become the first Class AAA school to win three straight titles since Charleston (1968-70).

Martinsburg's offense was too much for the Patriots as the Bulldogs scored 21 points in the first and second quarter in grabbing a 42-7 halftime lead.

In the first quarter, Clinton had scoring runs of 35, 4 and 13. He added a 5-yard touchdown run and a 10-yard scoring run in the second quarter to go along with Trey Boyd's 9-yard score.

In the second half, Martinsburg scored on a Clinton 1-yard run, and a pair of 16-yard scoring runs from Cedric Brown and Boyd.

The Bulldogs' defense held reigning Kennedy Award winner Ryan Switzer to 148 yards on 23 carries. He had a rushing touchdown of 14 yards in the second quarter and threw a touchdown pass to Trevor Bell in the third quarter.

George Washington ran for 167 yards and had 325 total offensive yards. Martinsburg ran for 355 yards and had a total of 467 offensive yards.

Class AA Playoff

Keyser 42, Bridgeport 14

KEYSER -The Keyser Golden Tornado advanced to the state championship game for the first time since 1969 on Friday afternoon, defeating the Bridgeport Indians for the second time this season, 42-14.

Keyser (12-1) will face Wayne in next Friday's game at Wheeling Island Stadium, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

For the Golden Tornado, who broke the school record for wins with the victory, Blake Ravenscroft rushed 13 times for 241 yards and three touchdowns of 28, 72, and 55 yards, while Danny Fife carried 12 times for 74 yards and a score.

Cody Eversole threw for 50 yards, including a 37-yard TD pass to J.R. Flint.

For Bridgeport, Brett Hathaway found the going difficult, carrying 33 times for 135 yards, partially inflated by a 34-yard carry in the second half, and a touchdown.

Cameron Stanley rushed six times for 39 yards and a TD.

Troy Anderson completed four of nine passes for 88 yards with an interception.

Ravenscroft scored on his first carry of the game after a Bridgeport punt to give KHS the lead for good; the Tornado led 21-0 at the half.
