ATHENS - A two-vehicle accident on U.S. 50 at Coolville resulted in multiple injuries Wednesday afternoon, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. when a 2006 Ford Explorer driven by Robert Henry, 73, of Lake Waynoka, Ohio, collided with a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Michael McPherson,16, of Coolville, the patrol said.

Henry and his wife, Susan Henry, 67, a passenger in the Explorer, and McPherson and his mother, Elizabeth McPherson, 38, were taken to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, the patrol said.

Their conditions were unvailable Thursday from the hospital.

Henry was driving east and the vehicles collided when as McPherson attempted to cross U.S. 50 from Brimstone Road, the patrol said.

Both drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts and McPherson was cited for failure to yield to a stop sign, the patrol said.
