PARKERSBURG - The Salvation Army and its volunteers have been hard at work preparing meals for Thanksgiving day.
More than 40 volunteers, including members of Vienna Baptist Church youth group and the Salvation Army board, prepared and boxed food Tuesday.
Lt. Mechelle Henry, pastor and commanding office for the Salvation Army in Parkersburg, said 112 turkey loaves were sent to Camden Clark Medical Center to be cooked at the Memorial and St. Joseph's campuses.

"We don't have the oven space to do it here," Henry said, "so that really helps."
Volunteers were packing items for the meals, including plates and utensils, coffee and tee, sweet potatoes, instant potatoes, gravy, stuffing and green beans.
The cooking and packing process will continue through today and meals will be provided to sites in Wood, Jackson, Wirt, Calhoun, Ritchie and Pleasants counties.
"It is great that we can provide this to our communities," Henry said. "It's awesome."
Last year 660 residents were served in Wood County alone and more than 1,100 people combined were served within the six counties, Henry said.
Henry began her job with the local Salvation Army five months ago.
"This is my first time to see this happening," she said. "I'm just astounded at how well this is managed. Everyone knows what they are doing and it just works so well."
